For the past month we have been studying dairy animals. To wrap up our unit we walked to a neighbor’s house where each of the students got to milk a cow! The family showed us how they separate the cream and then everyone helped to churn the cream into butter.
While I did not take photos of the family out of respect for both their privacy and the fact they are Amish, I did get photos of the kids milking the cow. They all did great!
We had so much fun, enjoyed a brisk walk back to the schoolhouse, and ended our day by exchanging Valentines.
We have also been studying George Washington’s life, learning the Pledge of Allegiance, studying mammals and their characteristics, putting together our greenhouses to prepare for planting seeds, and learning about some of the incredible body systems in Health and Safety.
