Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from all of us at Juneberry Hill Schoolhouse!

This past fall, the students and I carefully dug our rosemary plant out of the herb garden and tucked it into a flowerpot inside the schoolhouse for the winter.
“Rosie” became our Christmas tree for the season with some homemade gingerbread ornaments after reading Gingerbread Baby at our visit to Germany during our Christmas Around the World lessons this month.

Puffy Gingerbread Paint Ornaments
1. Combine 6 ounces of gold glitter glue, ¼ cup flour, 1 cup shaving cream, 4 drops brown food coloring, ½ tsp cinnamon, and ½ tsp allspice.
2. Have the kids mix well then spread it onto their shape with a popsicle stick or paintbrush. A simple way to make shapes is to push a cookie cutter into cardboard, trace the lines, then cut them out.
3. Push pompoms or beads into the paint and allow to dry before punching a hole for a ribbon and hanging. The paint dries puffy with the glitter shining through and smells of cinnamon and spices.

The recipe is a fun one and can be altered to fit any number of colors and scents if you are looking for something creative to do at home.

Enjoy and have a lovely holiday!
